AGENDA
1-Meeting was called to order by Mayor Page, Councilman Layton Townsend led in prayer.
2-Minutes from December 15, 2016 were read; a motion by Councilman Matthew Elvington to accept the minutes and seconded by Councilman David Johnson and voted unanimous to accept the minutes as read.
3-Meeting with Mr. Will Harrelson of Kenneth Cobb & Co. was postponed due to such a large crowd for this meeting.
4-Dillon County Councilman Jack Scott brought the Mayor and Council up to date on his findings on the infrastructure money designated for Town of Lake View. (This is the penny sales tax money that went on for 7 years.) Councilman Coward was able to shed a great deal of light on the subject as well. All members of Council agree to go forward and pursue getting this money back for the Town of Lake View.
5-Mr. Tonny McNeil was here to discuss a project called Honey Hill that he has been working on for the Town of Lake View. As information on this project cannot be disclosed at this time, everyone is in high hopes that this project will not fall through, as many have in the past. Mr. McNeil said there are a lot more No’s than Yes’s, as a project manifests, but you must persevere on to the next project. After much discussion and time set to meet again Mr. McNeil excused himself to allow the Mayor and Council to think about this a little more.
Council
Concerns:
1-Councilman Townsend says there are some issues with all the cats in town; some of the residents are quite upset over the cats walking on vehicles, scratching in the people’s gardens/potted plants.
2-Councilwoman Barnet says to contact County to put out traps to help with the animal issue. Councilwoman Barnet said her limbs and leaves had not been picked up for so long she finally burned it.
3-Councilman Johnson questioned when the floor will be replaced in the community center; Mayor and Council agree to get it finished as soon as possible; also feels the town needs to find someone to write grants.
4-Councilman Elvington agrees that Lake View Council and Dillon County Council need to sit down and talk to be sure where everyone stands. Also, ball season is around the corner; sign up time is near. Councilman Elvington also talked with a contractor to look at the empty building next door.
5-Time was set up to meet with Recreation Director Kenny Bethea on Friday at 3:30.
6-Mayor Page agreed it was time to do something about all the issues at hand. Mayor will contact someone with Dillon County Council to set up a meeting between the two councils to try to reach an agreement on the matter of infrastructure money marked for Lake View. Plans on fixing the ball field are in place and waiting for Henry’s Flooring to get started on the Community Center.
No more business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
