The Dillon Christian School Warriors defeated the Marlboro Academy Dragons 62-48 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Friday, January 20.
Although Dillon held a 4-point lead after the first period, 10-6, the Dragons fought back in the second period and took a 23-17 lead at halftime. Dillon recaptured the lead and led 40-33 after 3 periods of play.
Dillon controlled the opening tip-off.
Jackson Wolfe connected on a basket for 2 points for the first lead of the game in a low-scoring first period. Diaz Alexander laid 1l in for 2 points to give Dillon a 4-0 lead with 4:41 remaining in the first period.
The Dragons #25 connected for his first 3-pointer of the night to cut Dillon’s lead to only 1 point. He continued to connect on at least 4 other 3-pointers for the night and ended up with at least 20 points. He also calmly connected on 4 free throws when Dillon was called for a technical foul.
#10 for Marlboro Academy hit for at least 11 points.
The Warriors’ Diaz Alexander hit for 12 points and Jackson Wolfe added 11. Demontez Alford connected for 10 points, and Luke Price had 8.
Michael Minges contributed 7 points for the Warriors while Ross Carlyle hit for 6.
The Warriors will travel to King’s Academy today (Tuesday, January 24).
