On Sunday, December 11, the Dillon County Fire Department Stations 2,3,4 and Floyd Dale Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire on Highway 917 East in the Smithboro area just before 11:00 p.m.
During the firefighting efforts, a body was located in the residence. Coroner Donnie Grimsley identifies the body as Willie Nettles, Jr.
The Dillon County Coroner was notified and also the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Dillon County Coroner’s Office, and SLED are investigating the case.
