Lake View Elementary participated in The Million Father March Day on October 24th.
Over 75 fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and community men came out to greet the students as they arrived at school.
A light breakfast was served and then several men spoke to various classes about their careers and their community involvement.
They encouraged students to do well in school and make the most of each school day.
The Million Father March began in 2004, where fathers and other significant male caregivers across the United States and around the world gathered to accompany their children to school.
Each year marks the beginning of a yearlong commitment by men to their children’s educational success.
By design, The Million Father March is a community driven event and is not restricted to fathers.
It includes grandfathers, uncles, cousins, big brothers, significant male caregivers, family friends, other male role models and representatives from the community, government agencies, local businesses, and elected officials. In 2015, over 581 cities across 40 states nationwide participated.
Lake View Elementary is proud to be a part of the 2016 Million Father March.
