The Latta Vikings defeated Calhoun County 35-7 in varsity football in St. Matthews on Friday, Nov. 18, to advance to the second round playoff action of Class 2A.
The Latta Vikings never trailed in the game scoring the first 7 points in the second quarter and led 7-0 at halftime on a Davonta Porter 7-yard run and a Chase Hester PAT.
The Vikings added 14 points in each the third and fourth quarters.
Davonta Porter scored form 2 yards out and Chase Hester converted the PAT, and Ontario McClellan rushed for a 9-yard touchdown while Chase Hester again connected for the PAT for the Latta scoring in the third quarter.
Calhoun County scored 7 points in the third quarter for the only score in the game on a 2-yard run by Terrence Brunson and the PAT was good.
In the fourth quarter Ontario McClellan scored from 9 yards out and the PAT was good by Chase Hester. Davonta Porter scored the final points for the Latta Vikings on a 5-yard run, and the PAT was good by Chase Hester.
Davonta Porter scored 3 rushing touchdowns and 20 yards and caught 8 passes for 130 yards in the victory for Latta.
Ontario McClellan carried 17 times for 120 yards and 1 touchdown for the Vikings.
Jamarcus Legette carried 7 times for 52 yards for Latta while Chandler Nolan garnered 2 yards and 1 touchdown.
Kendall Moultrie picked up 36 yards on 4 catches while Deonte Stanley had 3 catches for 28 yards for Latta.
Damien Braddy added 45 yards on 2 catches for the Vikings.
Davonta Porter and Mikey Dotson each had 7 tackles, and Trey Manning had added 6 tackles for Latta.
Dylan Carter had 4 tackles in the win.
Jamari Bostick had 3 tackles and 1 interception for Latta on defense while Deonte Stanley had 3 tackles and 1 FF.
Kendall Moultrie had 3 tackles and 1 FR.
Chandler Nolan, Tevin Dimery, and Justin Hall each contributed 3 tackles in the victory for the Latta Vikings.
Jalen Gomillion added 2 tackles, and Jamarcus Legette had 1 tackle and 1 interception for Latta.
Hayden Graham and Ralph Berry each contributed 1 tackle.
Latta is 8-3 for the season.
Latta continues in the Class 2A playoffs as they travel to Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Friday, Nov. 25, at 7:30.
