Jatiel Lester and Ahmari Huggins-Bruce led the Junior Varsity Wildcats to a 28-12 victory over the Georgetown JV’s at Memorial Stadium last Thursday.
The Wildcats came from behind in the second quarter when Lester passed complete to Huggins-Bruce for a 42-yard touchdown and Corrian Wright ran a two point conversion to go ahead of the Junior Bull Dogs, 8-6 on the heels of Georgetown’s opening touchdown by Paul Lance.
After taking the ensuing kickoff, Georgetown again took the lead on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Brett Kirtley to L.J. Creel. A two-point conversion pass fell incomplete with Dillon trailing, 12-8.
The Wildcats marched 64 yards on their next possession with Isiah Benjamin running 21 yards for a 14-12 lead.
A pass for another two-point play was intercepted in the end zone by Melquan Cromedy.
The Wildcats would never trail after that touchdown. Just 52 seconds before the half ended,
Wright connected with Huggins-Bruce for a 45-yard score and Benjamin ran in for a 22-12 lead at intermission. In the fourth quarter Squeaky Harley intercepted a pass and returned it 57 yards for the final score of the game.
Benjamin led the rushing attack with 70 yards on 11 rushes and Huggins-Bruce recorded 82 yards on 3 catches.
Dillon will host Lake City JV’s Thursday at Memorial Stadium at 6:30.
