Lake View Defeats East Clarendon In Homecoming Game
defeated the East Clarendon Wolverines 38-0 in varsity football action on Friday, Nov. 4, in Lake View.
The Wild Gators’ De’Ante Bridgett took the opening kickoff on Lake View’s 31-yard line and returned it for 7 yards.
On the first offensive play of the game Randall Washington picked up 7 yards to their own 45-yard line. Washington carried to mid-field on the next play. However, the first of many penalties was called against Lake View for holding and moved the ball back 15 yards. Tyshawn McDaniel picked up 10 yards that was good for a first down. Once again, the Gators committed another penalty for 5 yards.
Deonte Roberts was on the receiving end of a pass. However, Lake View committed their third penalty and was forced to punt.
Nick Collins, Lake View’s punter did his job, and the Wolverines took over.
The Wolverines could muster only 7 yards on 3 plays and was forced to punt by #19.
Lake View took over on the 49-yard line.
Randall Washington rushed for huge yardage and a first down.
Lake View was again penalized on the next play.
Deonte Roberts was again on the receiving end of a pass that put Lake View on the 4-yard line.
Randall Washington carried the ball in for the first points of the game with 5:49 remaining in the first quarter.
Delvon Bethea scored the 2-point conversion, and Lake View led 8-0.
On the kickoff Tyshawn McDaniel made the saving tackle on Lake View’s 36-yard line to prevent a Wolverine touchdown.
East Clarendon managed only 2 yards in the next 2 plays of the game before an East Clarendon player was injured and transported to the hospital by the Dillon County Ambulance.
With 4:26 remaining in the first quarter, the Wolverines were forced to punt again, and Lake View began the next series of plays from their own 9-yard line.
Randall Washington carried on the next 2 plays and picked up big yardage but again Lake View was charged for holding, and the ball was moved back to Lake View’s own 25-yard line.
Lake View was faced with fourth and 2 when once again the Wild Gators were penalized.
After the first quarter Lake View led 8-0.
East Clarendon was called for their first penalty on fourth down when 12 men were on the field at one time.
After the punt by #19 for the Wolverines #10 for East Clarendon made a saving tackle on the 27-yard line to prevent a Wild Gators’ score.
Delvon Bethea scored the second touchdown for Lake View with 8:40 remaining in the second quarter.
Tyshawn McDaniel added the 2-point conversion.
Lake View continued to pick up penalties.
East Clarendon recovered a Lake View fumble on their own 9-yard line to stop a Wild Gators’ score.
At halftime Lake View led 16-0.
Lake View crowned the Homecoming Queen at halftime. All 33 contestants were introduced and the final court was recognized.
With 7:32 remaining in the third quarter Tyshawn McDaniel scored. The Wild Gators attempted the 2-point conversion but were penalized, and the ball was placed on the 14-yard line where Deonte Roberts successfully connected for the 2-point conversion.
The Wild Gators led 24-0 after 3 quarters.
Tyshawn McDaniel scored in the fourth quarter on a 5-yard run. However, Lake View was unable to convert the 2-point play.
The final score of the game was a 67-yard run by Tyshawn McDaniel, and Josh Floyd picked up the 2 points.
Randall Washington rushed 22 times for 203 yards, and Tyshawn McDaniel rushed 8 times for 132 yards.
Lake View is undefeated for the season at 9-0 and 4-0 in Region 6-A.
Lake View will travel to Hannah-Pamplico on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
