Todd Davis reported on the status of Smithfield BBQ and Cookout coming to Dillon at the September meeting of the Dillon City Council.
Davis said he had received many calls on the restaurants and had Code Enforcement Officer Benny Genwright make contact.
Davis said he had spoken with the person bringing the Smithfield BBQ a few months ago, and the person told him that they had built one in Lumberton, NC, and they wanted to see how it was going to do before they started construction on the one in Dillon. Davis said he rode by there the other day, and it appeared t be doing well. He said Genwright contacted him and that there is a problem with the legality of the name of the restaurant at the NC/SC line and as soon as it was worked out he thinks they are coming our way. Davis said he doesn’t know how long it will take to deal with this.
Davis said that Cookout is currently building a restaurant in Marion. They still plan to come to Dillon, and Dillon appears to be next on the list. Davis said they were very excited and appreciative that Genwright had called, and it showed the interest in Dillon.
