The Dillon Christian School Warriors moved to 5-0 on the season with a convincing 47-14 region win over the Williamsburg Academy Stallions Friday night in Kingstree.
Michael Minges attacked the Stallions through the air for 257 yards and four touchdowns with Jackson Wolfe grabbing five of those passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Luke Price continues to lead the Warrior defense getting 20 tackles and six assists against the Stallions.
Diaz Alexander got the Warriors on the board first with a seven yard touchdown run. Gage Bazemore added the point after kick to put the Warriors up 7-0 with 9:33 left in the first quarter.
The Warriors recovered a fumble on the Stallions first possession at the Stallion 36 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage Michael Minges hit tight end Luke Price with a 36 -yard touchdown pass. Bazemore’s point after kicked increased the Warrior lead to 14-0 with 9:05 left in the first quarter.
The Warriors had the Stallions backed up on their next offensive series. Walt Bailey picked off a pass and returned it to the Stallion nine yard line to set up the Warrior’s next touchdown with Minges connecting with Jackson Wolfe for a nine yard touchdown pass. The kick was blocked holding the Warrior lead to 20-0 with 6:27 left in the first quarter. Diaz Alexander showed the league how fast he is on the next kickoff racing down field to recover the kickoff on the Stallion 27 yard line.
The Warrior offense lost six yards to the 33 where Minges and Alexander teamed up for a 33-yard touchdown pass. The kick was blocked to hold the Warrior lead to 26-0 with 4:46 left in the first quarter with the quarter ending with this score.
On their first possession of the second quarter, Stallion quarterback Dillon Atkinson crossed the goal line from ten yards out to put his team on the board.
The kick was off with the Warrior’s lead cut to 26-6. Alexander proved he is also a threat on defense as he picked off a Stallion pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown. Bazemore’s point after kick increased the Warrior lead to 33-6 with 5:42 left in the second quarter.
On the Warriors final possession of the second quarter Minges found Wolfe open deep for a 65 yard touchdown pass. Bazemore upped the Warrior lead to 40-6 with the quarter ending with this score.
The clock was run without stoppage in the second half to hold down the scoring. The Warriors were substituting players and playing some at other positions in the second half.
Stallion running back Benton Magill ran in a touchdown from four yards out and then added the conversion run to close the Warrior lead to 40-14 with 5:56 left in the third quarter with the quarter closing with this score as the Warriors attempted a 37 yard field goal that was just off the mark as the final play of the third quarter. On the Warrior’s final offensive possession of the game, Garret Collins carried the ball eight times for 60 yards with the final run going for 14 yards and the touchdown. Bazemore added the final point of the game to give the Warriors the 47-14 region win.
On offense for the Warriors, Michael Minges was 12 of 16 passing for 257 yards and four touchdowns adding 54 yards rushing on five carries.
Minges had a 60 yard rushing touchdown and a 52 yard touchdown pass called back on penalties, Jackson Wolfe caught five passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns, Diaz Alexander had 51 yards on 9 carries with a touchdown and caught a 33 yard touchdown pass, Garret Collins had 60 yards on 8 carries with a touchdown, Luke Price caught two passes for 52 yards and a touchdown and Tyreke Toomer caught two passes for 10 yards.
Toomer had a 52 yard touchdown pass called back due to a penalty. On defense, Luke Price had 20 tackles, 6 assists, Garret Collins had 7 tackles, 4 assists, Hamilton Hodges had 6 tackles, 6 assists, Diaz Alexander had 4 tackles, 3 assists with an interception returned 32 yards for a touchdown, Eric Eck had 3 tackles 5 assists, Tyreke Toomer and Evan Paul had two tackles two assists each, Walt Bailey added a tackle with four assists and an interception with a 10 yard return, Jared Ivey added a tackle with four assists, Bradley Patterson and Samuel Coleman added a tackle with two assists each, Jackson Wolfe and Daniel Camp added a tackle, Dallas Feeko had two tackle assists, Collin Hamilton, Corbin Wethington and Barnes Causey added a tackle assist.
The Warriors will be home Friday night hosting their top Rival Pee Dee Academy with game time set for 7:30.
