The Town of Latta had several break-ins on the night of August 29th-30th. If anyone has any video from that night from 11:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. and sees anything suspicious or any persons walking by, please notify the Latta Police Department.
Theft from motor vehicle, Park Lane, Latta, SC, 08/29/2016, 11:30 p.m. PFC Cox was met at the Police Department by the victim. The victim stated that when he walked outside around 6:45 a.m., he noticed items in his truck appeared to be out of order. After looking through his truck he then noticed items were missing. The truck is a 2004 Pewter Chevy Silverado. The items missing were approximately $400 in cash, jewelry (old wedding band and miscellaneous rings and necklaces), and his personal checkbook. The victim stated he had previously left all of these items in a box under the driver’s seat. The victim also stated he did leave his window rolled down over night. The wedding bank is gold and has the date “09/24/1999”engraved on the inside. PFC Matthew W. Cox, reporting officer.
Theft from motor vehicle, E. Bamberg Street, Latta, 08/29/2016, 8:00 p.m. PFC Cox responded to East Bamberg Street in reference to a dispatched call regarding theft from a motor vehicle. When the victim walked out to her truck this morning (08/30), she noticed some items had been taken from it. Missing were a GPS system, a large hunting knife in a leather case, and a tool set. The victim state she realized she forgot to lock her truck doors the night before. PFC Matthew W. Cox, reporting officer.
Theft from motor vehicle, Park Lane, Latta, SC, 08/29/2016, 10:30 p.m. PFC Hubbard was dispatched to the Park Lane address in reference to a motor vehicle break in. The victim stated his vehicle and his wife’s vehicle were both rummaged through during the night. He stated he had friends over at his home until approximately 10:30 p.m. He stated this was the last time he saw his vehicle until the following morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. He stated that at this time he did check his vehicle and found his .22 rifle was missing as well as a box of ammunition. The rifle was a Ruger .22 with a black synthetic stock and the box contained approximately 15 rounds of 9 MM ammunition. There were no items missing from his wife’s vehicle. Theft from motor vehicle, Park Lane, Latta, SC, 08/29/2016, 12:30 a.m. PFC Hubbard was patrolling Smith Street when he was met by the complainant who stated someone had broken into his wife’s vehicle. The wife had already driven the vehicle to work. The complainant stated that a .38 revolver was missing from the vehicle. The handgun is a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P style revolver model 10-5 with serial #C994999. It is black in color with wood style grips. The handgun once belonged to his wife’s late uncle and had a great deal of sentimental value. The complainant stated his wife had also found a knife in the front driver’s seat when she exited the vehicle at work. I was able to locate his wife’s vehicle and I did observe a black in color folding pocket knife lying in the front seat. The wife stated that along with the gun approximately $3 in change was also taken from the vehicle. The vehicle doors were left unlocked. PFC Russell G. Hubbard, Jr., reporting officer.
Theft from motor vehicle, China Drive, Latta, SC, 08/29/2016, 11:00 p.m. PFC Hubbard was dispatched to the China Drive address in reference to a motor vehicle break in. Upon arrival at the address, the officer spoke with the complainant who stated sometime during the night someone went into his vehicle as well as his son’s vehicle. The complainant stated he went to sleep at approximately 11:00 p.m. and awoke this morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. He stated he found the vehicles had been rummaged through at approximately 8:45 a.m. He stated no items were missing out of the vehicles. Burglary/Breaking & Entering, Church Street, Latta, SC, 08/29/2016, 10:00 p.m. PFC Hubbard was dispatched to the Church Street address on 08/30/2016 at approximately 9:20 a.m. in reference to a burglary. The officer spoke with the complainant who stated he had just gotten back from the store and saw his barn door was open. At this time, he went to check the barn. He observed someone had entered his barn and taken a Dell computer monitor, Dell Keyboard, and a 48 inch Vizio flatscreen TV that was in the box. The officer observed the suspect had attempted to take the computer tower but was unsuccessful in doing so. The complainant did state he does leave the building door unlocked. PFC Russell G.
