The Lake View Wild Gators varsity football team defeated Johnsonville 42-14 on Friday, August 26, in Lake View.
The Gators’ Duane Nichols passed for 327 yards on 10 of 12 passes for 3 touchdowns and also rushed for 2 touchdowns.
Lake View’s Randall Washington rushed for 100 yards on 10 carries.
Johnsonville was led by Devonta Mack who carried the ball 16 times for 57 yards.
The Gators took the lead on a Duane Nichols run with 1:00 minute remaining in the first quarter.  The 2-point run failed.
Lake View led 6-0 after the first quarter.
With 5:36 remaining in the second quarter Duane Nichols tossed one to Tyshawn McDaniel who scored on the 68-yard  pass. The 2-point run failed and Lake View led 12-0.
Following a reception on the one-yard line by Deante Bridgette, Duane Nichols scored on a quarterback sneak wtih only 23 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
At halftime Lake View led 12-0.
In the third quarter Lake View’s Darius Ford carried the kickoff return 70 yards, and Josh Floyd carried one in for 6 points.
Tyrik Palmer put Johnsonville on he scoreboard with a 9-yard run with 8:00 minutes remaining in the third quarter. The attempted 2-point pass conversion failed.
The Lake View Wild Gators scored on a 51-yard pass to Delvon Bethea from Duane Nichols with 5:53 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion run failed.
The Gators’ Albert Wheeler added 6 points in the fourth quarter with 8:52 remaining on a 33-yard pass from Nichols. De’ante Bridgett converted a 2-point conversion.
With 2:09 remaining in the game Jim Cagle added 6 points on a 7-yard run for Johnsonville and Isaiah Gilliard connected on a 2-point run.
Lake View is 2-0 for the season.
The Lake View Wild Gators will travel to Mullins on Friday, September 9.
