Mayor Todd Davis commented on land being used for agricultural purposes in some of the commercial districts in Dillon at a recent meeting.
Davis said in Dillon’s most heavy commercial districts on Highway 9 there is a plot of property across from Popeye’s beside Taco Bell being used for agricultural purposes. He said it bugs him a little bit to have an agricultural site in the middle of the commercial district. He said he was confused as to whether it was zoned for that or not. City Manager Glen Wagner said that they do not believe it is zoned for that. Wagner said that on Commerce Drive there are areas being used for agricultural purposes that are zoned commercial.
Wagner said they were going to write a letter to the property owners stating that after they harvest the crop this is over with.Davis said he does not recall going to another location or city where they have property being used for agricultural purposes in the middle of their prime area.
“It doesn’t look good,” Davis said.
