The Dillon District Four School Board approved their 2016-2017 budget at a recent meeting.
Art McMillan, Assistant Superintendent of Finance, presented the budget.
McMillan noted the following highlights about the budget:
—“An overall budget increase of 5.023% over 2015-2016 from $24,780,221 to $26,024,866.”
—“All Teachers will receive a salary increase ranging from 3.01% to 4.24% including a step increase. The salary schedule has increased to twenty-three years.”
—“There will be a 2% increase in the classified employee salary schedules, with the exception of Bus Drivers. Bus Driver Salary Schedule increased 3.25% per Proviso 117-118. The salary schedules will increase to twenty-three years and all employees with salaries based on a District Salary Schedule will receive a step increase.”
—“A projected Education Finance Act Base Student Cost of $2,350.”
—“Employer Contribution Rates for Retirement increased from 16.39% to 16.89%.”
The budget is balanced. The budget was approved upon a motion by Board Member Famon Whitfield and a second by Board Member Burt Rogers
