The Dillon County Council primary run-off elections were held on Tuesday for three council seats.
In Dillon County District One, James “Hoghead” Campbell defeated Mike Powell, 502 to 379.
Campbell got 10 votes in East Dillon, 87 in West Dillon, 221 in South Dillon, and 184 absentee votes. Powell got 257 votes in East Dillon, 12 in West Dillon, 23 in South Dillon, and 87 absentee votes.
In Dillon County District Two, Jack Scott defeated Bobby K. Moody, 513 to 351.
Scott got 282 votes in Lake View, 68 in Kemper, 24 in Gaddy’s Mill, 31 in Bermuda, 7 in Pleasant Hill, 9 in Floyd Dale, 57 in Fork, and 35 absentee votes. Moody got 112 in Lake View, 54 in Kemper, 33 in Gaddy’s Mill, 52 in Bermuda, 11 in Pleasant Hill, 9 in Floyd Dale, 67 in Fork, and 13 absentee votes.
In Dillon County District Four, T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr., defeated Aaron R. Gandy, 326 to 301 votes.
Finklea got 199 votes in Latta, 5 votes in New Holly, 57 votes in Oak Grove, and 65 absentee votes.
Gandy got 157 votes in Latta, 12 votes in New Holly, 105 votes in Oak Grove, and 27 absentee votes.
Finklea was the only incumbent running in the primary election and the primary run-off that kept his seat.
There was a potential 8,306 voters in these districts (total); however, 2,391 ballots were cast.
The election certification will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
The general election will be held in November.
