Mandy Mussman, Head of School, Dillon Christian School and Thom Thompson, Owner/Mgr. of Commercial Diesel Service, have teamed up to help educate the students, parents, and public in the proper way to dispose of the American Flag.
A depository container was provided by Thom on the May 24th. Mandy and the staff of DCS are proud to be able to teach our young people how important it is to know proper etiquette of the American Flag – where and how to display it and how to dispose of it when the time comes; so many of our flags are just thrown in the trash.
Not only is this container provided for DCS, we also encourage the public to drop off any worn or tattered flags that have lost ability to be displayed. Thom also invites you to drop off worn flags to Commercial Diesel Service of Dillon SC.
These flags will be properly disposed of at a later date in a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the American Legion Post 32, Dillon SC, to which the public is invited.
Thom would like to thank Jed Rowell for his time and talent in the design of the flag container.
We, as Americans, are proud to display our personal flags at our homes, but can often get distracted with our daily lives. Take time to look at your flag to see its condition.
FLY IT PROUDLY – BUT DISPOSE OF IT PROPERLY.
