The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the Johnsonville Flashes 4-0 in the Class 2A lower state playoffs in Dillon on Saturday, May 7.
The Lady Wildcats’ Tori Grimsley pitched a 3-hitter in the 7-inning game. She struck out 2.
Savanna Young took the loss for Johnsonville as she pitched 6 innings, allowed 9 hits 4 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 3.
Each team committed 1 error.
Dillon took the lead in the third inning that started with a single by Taylor Blackmon that dropped in short center. A sac bunt by A’Doshia Graves moved Blackmon to second base. Marissa Tyndall hit a grounder to the shortstop; she was safe at first and Blackmon moved to third. Brittany Miller singled by first base, and Blackmon scored.
Dillon picked up 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth as Taylor Blackmon hit 1 up the middle for a single followed by Auh’kieria Smiling who hit 1 to left field. She picked up a rbi and ended up on third as the throw came. Marissa Tyndall hit a single by third to score Smiling. Brittany Miller hit 1 to right center for a double and a rbi. Johnsonville’s Kayla Ard picked up a double in 3 trips to the plate. Jada Parsons and Arlie Ard each connected for a hit in 3 at-bats for the Flashes.
Dillon Taylor Blackmon connected for 3 hits in 3 at-bats to lead the offense for the Lady Wildcats.
Dillon is 19-4 for the season.
The Lady Wildcats hosted Battery Creek in Class 2A playoffs on Monday, May 9, in playoff action.
