The Aynor varsity baseball team defeated the Dillon Wildcats 4-3 in a game played in Dillon on Thursday, March 24.
Aynor picked up the first run of the game in the top of the fifth to take the lead. However, the Dillon Wildcats picked up 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth only to have Aynor take the lead in the top of the seventh inning when Walt Richardson doubled to score 2 runs to tie the game at 3 to 3, and Walt Richardson scored from second base on a single by Holden Nobles.
Aynor’s Jason Duke pitched the complete 7-inning game and allowed 7 hits, 3 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 2, and struck out 5.
Austin Moody was tagged with the loss for the Wildcats as he pitched 6 innings, allowed 8hits, 4 runs of which 3 were earned, walked 3, and struck out 2.
Jon-Mitchell Carter had 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate including a double. Kaleb Page garnered one hit in 2 at-bats including a double and 2 rbi for the ‘Cats.
The Aynor Blue Jackets were led by Walt Richardson who was 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and 2 rbi. Ridge Richardson was also 2 for 3 with a double, and Holden Nobles was 1 for 3.
Dillon is now 3-5 for the season and 2-2 in Region 8-2A.
Dillon hosted Hannah-Pamplico on Monday at 4:00 p.m.
