Ron Long, Athletic Director of the Shrine Bowl Of The Carolinas, has announced the Coaches selections for the 2016 North Carolina Tar Heels and the South Carolina Sandlappers. These Coaches have been selected and approved to coach their respective teams in the 80th Annual Shrine Bowl Game to be played on Saturday, December 17th at beautiful Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Among the coaches selected is Coach Daryl King of Lake View High School. He will be joined on the South Carolina coaching staff by Phil Strickland of Newberry, Leonard Johnson of Marion, Charles Patterson of Hanahan, Michal Mayer of Indian Land, Rick Scott of Spartanburg, and Trey Wallace of Airport.
They will be facing North Carolina coaches David Gentry of Murphy, Pat Moser of Orange, Kevin Gellespre of Page, David Lovette of Grays Creek, Ken Avent, Jr., of James Kenan, Steve Breitensten of Watauga, and Tim Carson of Weddington.
Long added, “All respective North and South Carolina Coaches Associations and governing bodies have approved their coaching selections for participation in this Carolina’s Football Classic affectionately known as America’s Original All Star High School Football Game—where strong legs run, so weak legs might walk.”
