Johnny Turner, a Dillon man charged with multiple counts of molesting children, pled guilty last week before Judge Paul Burch during a term of General Sessions Court at the Dillon County Judicial Center.
He was sentenced to 15 years and will have to serve at least 85 percent of that sentence.
“There’s nothing we can do for those children to take away what this man did to them,” said Assistant Solicitor Shipp Daniel, who prosecuted the case, “but we can certainly make sure he’s not free to hurt anybody else. Given Mr. Turner’s significant health issues, I very seriously doubt he will ever be free to do this again.”
In other matters taken up last week, Defendant Michael Copeland was near the end of his trial for possessing a weapon on school grounds when he decided to plead guilty to breach of peace. Assistant Solicitor Lee Hayes handled Copeland’s case.
Among others pleading guilty last week are: Glenn Wright (assault and battery), Christina Williams (shoplifting), Trey Ford (financial identity fraud), Kyle McRae (weapons), Derek Ford (burglary), Lacey Crawford (financial card theft), Mitchell Lane (financial card theft), Quashena McCall (financial identity fraud), Debra Odum (drugs), Greg Wilson (assault and battery), Curtis Edwards (assault and battery), Leon Jones (weapons), Rocky Gillespie (resisting arrest), William Caine Clark (resisting arrest), Raheem McDaniel (drugs), Delon German (drugs), Julius Ross (harassment), Alex Clark (domestic violence), Heather Elliott (perjury), Brandy Locklear (perjury), Chaquita Thompson (domestic violence), Timothy Cooper (failure to stop for blue light), Yaku Dunson (breaking into motor vehicles/burglary), Hatari Hayes (drugs), Courtney Jacobs (grand larceny), Antonio Cooper (breach of peace), Deuval Tisdale (drugs), Dewitt McRae (domestic violence), James McLellan (drugs), Joshua Norman (trespassing), Michael Campbell (financial card theft), Billy Jackson (drugs), Doris Campbell (financial card theft), Erica McIver (financial card fraud), Brian Colvin (larceny), Quantis Morrison (breach of peace), Derek McGrady (burglary), Matthew Hodge (forgery), and Darvis Stackhouse (drugs).
The next jury term is scheduled for March 14, 2016 before Judge Roger Henderson. First up for trial that week is Devante McNeil who was charged in the 2013 killing of Damien Simpson.
