The Dillon County Branch NAACP will have Jubilee Day on Sunday, January 17, 4:00 p.m. at Bethel Hill A.M.E. Church, Latta, Rev. Bobby Bethea, Pastor. Rev. Bobby Bethea is the speaker for the Jubilee Day program.

Second Annual Martin Luther King Jr. March in Dillon County.  Calling everyone in the community.  Monday, January 18, Lining up at 100 N. Railroad Ave (Amtrak).  Line-up is at 9:00 a.m.; the march begins at 10:00 a.m., dispersing at J. V. Martin.  Any questions or comments, contact “Muffen” N.S. The Latta Schools Educational Foundation will present the 3rd annual A Choral Tribute Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 18 at 6:00 pm.  This celebration will be at the Ellis Performing Arts Center in Latta. There will be no charge for the event.
Choirs performing in the celebration will be Ellis Performing Arts Center sponsors– The V. Jackson/M. Belton Mass Choir from St. John Missionary Baptist Church and the Latta Baptist Church Adult Choir.  Others performing will be Weston Chapel Children’s Choir; the T B Thomas Male Chorus from St. Phillips United Methodist Church; soloist Pam Keesler, Latta High and Middle School chorus teacher; the Kwame Hennagan family; Members of the Berean Praise Team; Robert Porter and family, LHS Resource officer; Reverend Rob Pierce, Latta Baptist Church; and Reverend William J. Walker, St. John Missionary Baptist Church.  Evelyn Williams, teacher at Latta Elementary School, will once again serve as emcee for the evening and soloist.                                                             
Doors will open at 5:30 with a pre-show video tribute to Dr. King conveying little known facts about his life.
Seating will be general admission for this free celebration.

A Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. march will be held on January 18 at 11 a.m. sponsored by the Carolina Youth Action Association of Rowland. The march will begin at the old cotton gin on Highway 301 and end at the Southside alumni Building (MLK Drive). The luncheon begins at 12 noon. The speaker is Dr. Donald Bonner.
