Dillon County had three teams trying to win a place in next week’s state title games. One moved on to the state title game, while the other two lost to their opponents on Friday night.
The Dillon Wildcats defeated Lake Marion, 42-6, to win the Lower State Championship. They will play Newberry High School, who beat Fairfield Central 24-10, for the state title. The game is next Friday at 7 p.m. at Benedict College.
Unfortunately, our other two teams, Lake View and Latta, were defeated. After a scoreless first half, Latta was defeated by Allendale-Fairfax, 28-0. Lake View was defeated by C.E. Murray, 16-14, on a last second field goal.
