Services for Alma Cooper Elvington will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Elvington Family Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and at other times at 1251 Rabbit Island Rd., Lake View.
Mrs. Elvington, 84, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Pruitt Healthcare in Dillon.
Born in Marion County, SC January 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Tillman Cooper and Annie Jane Miles Cooper.  She was a member of Kemper Baptist Church, and was retired from Sunny Acres Nursing Home after 15 years of service as the Activities Assistant.  She was the widow of Levi C. Elvington.
Survivors include her children, Gloria (Johnny) Sawyer of Dillon, Ronnie Elvington of Lake View, and Deborah (Sammy) Watts of Nichols; grandchildren, Shannon (Mitchell) Carter, Brad (Shawnie) Sawyer, Rhonda Arnold, Leslie Elvington, and Fallon Watts; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Pete (Linda) Cooper, Lafon Cooper, both of Dillon, and Wendall (Pat) Cooper of Marion; sisters, Gladys Hyman of Dillon, Eva Costillo of CA, Lynniece (Michael) Goodwin of Dillon, and Marie Franklin of Little Rock, AR; very special friends, Lorene Hayes and Normie Turbeville.
Mrs. Elvington was preceded in death by her step-mother, Belle Cottingham Cooper; brothers, Frank, Bryan, and Andre Cooper; and her sisters, Ethel Hyman, Annie Bell Herring, Retha Poston, and Bertha Owens.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Pruitt Healthcare and Pruitt Hospice for the excellent loving care given to our mother during her illness.
