McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce new leadership in Laboratory Services. April Tucker has been named Director and Gayle Tiesing has been named Assistant Director of the department.
April has 22 years of experience in all facets of laboratory operations. She has been employed by the McLeod Health system since 1997. Most recently, April served as the Assistant Director of the McLeod Dillon Laboratory. Prior to that role, she worked as a Medical Technologist at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
April chose her career because the personal experiences her family has had with healthcare. Family has always been very important to April and she cares for patients as she would her own loved ones.
“When I was given the opportunity to work in Dillon three years ago, I chose to accept that offer because I knew of McLeod Dillon’s positive influence in a progressive community,” said April. “McLeod Dillon is a wonderful hospital, and I have had a great experience.”
April and her husband Todd have 2 children, Geffrey (20 years old) and Kathryn (15 years old). She is a native of Cerro Gordo, NC and enjoys exercising and reading.
Gayle has over 20 years of experience in the clinical laboratory setting. Most recently, she worked as a Medical Technologist II full-time at Marion County Medical Center and worked on an as needed basis at McLeod Dillon.
Gayle chose her career because she enjoys the problem solving that occurs behind the front line of medicine.
“I chose to pursue this career advancement at McLeod Dillon because I knew how supportive the laboratory staff is in the department,” said Gayle. “Also, the Dillon community is rich with friendly people.”
Gayle and her husband, Michael, have two children, Austin (15 years old) and Brandon (13 years old). She is a native of Marion, and enjoys yard work, antique collecting, going to yard sales, and reading.
