The Dillon Christian School Warriors had not defeated the Stallions of Williamsburg Academy sense 2009, but that ended Friday night in Dillon when the Warriors claimed a 41-13 win over the Stallions.
A past coach of the Stallions seemed to really enjoy running up the score on the Warriors but he has moved on and the present Stallion coaching staff seem to display good sportsmanship attitudes.
The win puts the Warriors at 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the region and their best start sense 2009.
The Warriors received outstanding performances on offense from TeShaun Lane, Kelvin Stackhouse, Michael Minges and Tyreck Toomer backed up on defense by Stackhouse, Jake Boykin, Ethan Shackelford and Lane.
Kelvin Stackhouse picked up the Warriors first score on a one yard run with 7:07 left in the first quarter. Jackson Wolfe’s point after kick put the Warriors up 7-0.
With the first quarter coming to a close, Stackhouse got his second TD on a 20 yard run. The point after kick was off leaving the Warriors out front 13-0 with 1:09 left in the quarter with the quarter ending with this score.
On the Warriors first possession of the second quarter, TeShaun Lane finished the drive with a 61 yard run to the end zone. Wolfe’s point after gave the Warriors a 20-0 lead with 9:48 left in the second quarter.
Following a pass interception by Toomer the Warriors took over on offense at their on ten yard line. A hand off to lane resulted in a 90 yard touchdown run by lane. Wolfe increased the Warrior lead to 27-0 with his point after kick. The first half would end with this score.
Toomer took the kickoff to start the second half and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown.
Michael Minges ran in the two point conversion on a quarterback keeper to up the Warrior lead to 35-0 with 11:49 left in the third quarter. On the Warriors first offensive possession of the third quarter, Lane broke loose and outran the Stallion defenders on his way to a 63 yard touchdown run.
The kick was off holding the Warrior lead to 41-0. The Warriors began playing substitutes late in the third quarter. With 39 seconds left in the quarter, Stallion running back, Benton McGill got outside and raced 85 yards for a Stallion TD.
The point after kick was blocked holding the Warrior lead to 41-6.
With 2:23 left in the game, Paul Amann got the Stallions a touchdown on a 13 yard run.
Gage Mixon added the point after kick to end the scoring with the Warriors getting the 41-13 region win. On offense for the Warriors, TeShaun Lane had 248 yards on five carries with four touchdowns, Kelvin Stackhouse had 110 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown, Michael Minges was 1 of 7 passing for 14 yards and had 58 yards on 5 carries and ran in a two point conversion, Tyreck Toomer had 18 yards on 3 carries, caught a pass for 14 yards and ran a kickoff back for 65 yards and a touchdown, Garrett Collins had eight yards on 4 carries and Bryan Davis picked up two yards. On defense for the Warriors, Kelvin Stackhouse had eight tackles, three assists and a fumble recovery, Jake Boykin and Ethan Shackelford had six tackles, two assists each with Boykin adding a quarterback sack, TeShaun Lane had five tackles, two assists, Anthony “Red” Williams and Garrett Collins had four tackles, two assists each, David Williams and Hunter Tyner had three tackles, two assists each, Tyreck Toomer, Samuel Coleman and Connor Hamilton had two tackles with an assist each with Toomer adding an interception, Michael Minges, Corbin Wethington and Bradley Patterson added a tackle with an assist each. Congratulations to TeShaun Lane for receiving the a local tv station player of the week honors.
The Warriors will be home Friday with a non-region game with Robert E. Lee. Game time is set for 7:30. This should be a good game.
