The Home Depot offers Community Impact Grants of up to $5,000 to Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts to help with repairing and improvement of the facilities.
The Dillon VFW Post 6091 has received one of these grants, and the Home Depot Store #8580 in Florence, SC has supplied all of the materials for the main room to insulate the ceiling, cover it in plywood, trim it and paint it.
The Home Depot Store in Florence has also been supplying store associates to help with the installation of the insulation and plywood.
Toby Hutchinson from Home Depot did the site survey and ordered all of the materials for the Post. These associates have been to the VFW Post several times to work on the project.
They do this work on their own time and are providing a great service to the Veterans and the Community.
VFW member Chris Norris applied for the grant. Chris has been a valuable member of Post 6091 and strives to improve the Post and to help Veterans.
The Post needs volunteers from the Dillon area to help finish this project; any help will be appreciated.
When completed, this project will make the Post facility more comfortable in both the summer and winter.
Anyone interested in helping with this project should contact the Post Commander, Lloyd Brown, at 843-731-5891. (adv.)
