One of the Latta Police Department’s officers has graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Matt Cox, who joined the Latta Police Department on October 23rd, graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy on Friday, May 29th.
Cox said becoming a police officer is something that he always wanted to do. He enjoys helping people and being a positive influence in their lives. He enjoys his job.
Cox was born and reared in Latta. He is the son of Rebecca and Kelvin Cooper and Cecil Cox, Jr. He graduated from Latta High School in 2010. He is certified in towing and recovery. Cox would like to thank Chief Crystal Moore, Assistant Chief Derrick Cartwright, and his training officer, Lt. Bobby Jones. He would like to thank God who made all of this possible.
