The Lake View Wild Gators earned a 17-0 win over Timmonsville on Thursday night, but fell 6-3 to Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Saturday in the Class A, District V baseball playoffs.
On Thursday, Lake View hosted Timmonsville and took an 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Gators sealed the win with nine runs in the bottom of the third.
Three Gators combined for a shut out on the mound, with Weston Rogers striking out two, Brent Herlong striking out four, and Carson Rogers striking out three. Herlong gave up one hit by pitch. Timmonsville’s Gainey took the loss, pitching three innings for 10 hits, 17 runs, 10 earned runs, seven walks, two hit by pitch, four wild pitches, and two outs.
At bat for Lake View, Weston Rogers went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks for four runs scored; Josh Price went 2-for-2 with two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases, also reaching on two walks; Nick Collins went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored, also reaching on a walk and making a sacrifice bunt; Justin Elliott went 1-for-2 with one RBI and two runs, also reaching on a walk; Carson Rogers went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, also reaching on a hit by pitch; Luc Newell went 1-for-3 with one run, also reaching on an error; Stone Spivey went 1-for-1 with one RBI, one stolen base, and one run scored; De’Ante Bridgett went 1-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, also reaching on error; Brent Herlong was hit by a pitch and drew one walk for one run; and Hunter Stevens reached on an error for one run scored.
Timmonsville’s Goodson was hit by a pitch in the third to reach base. The Whirlwinds had six errors in the effort.

On Saturday, the Gators fell 6-3 on the road at Bamberg-Ehrhardt.
Lake View’s Weston Rogers drew a walk to open the top of the first inning, and Nick Collins made a sacrifice bunt to advance him to second. Rogers reached third on a wild pitch, but Josh Price and Justin Elliott got grounders to leave him stranded. In the bottom of the inning, Bamberg’s Zeigler, Schwarting, Etheridge, and Chandler all got base hits and the Red Raiders took advantage of passed balls to score three runs for a 3-0 lead.
Carson Rogers flew out to open the top of the second with one out, but Brent Herlong and Luc Newell both got base hits and advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Hunter Stevens for the second out. But De’Ante Bridgett flew out to end the inning with two runners stranded. Bamberg’s Beard opened the bottom of the inning with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Kirkland, and Beard came home on a single from Zeigler. Zeigler stole second and third, and Schwarting drew a walk, with both runners coming home on a single from Etheridge. Bunch and Hanks both grounded out to end the inning with a 6-0 Red Raider lead.
Lake View went three up, three down in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, but the Lake View pitchers returned the favor in the bottom of the third and fifth innings. In the bottom of the fourth, the Raiders threatened to score again after Kirkland singled and advanced on errors that allowed Zeigler and Schwarting to reach. Etheridge singled to advance the runners, but both Kirkland and Zeigler were put out before they could cross the plate, and Bunch got a grounder to end the threat.
The Gators got on the board in the sixth as Collins drew a walk with one out. Price hit a fly for the second out, but Elliott singled and Carson Rogers tripled to score both runners before Herlong flew out, leaving Rogers on third and the Gators trailing 6-2. The Raiders ground out to start the bottom of the inning and the Wild Gator pitchers got two outs to send the game into the final inning.
Lake View led off with a grounder from Newell, but Stevens doubled and advanced to third on a single from Bridgett. Weston Rogers made a sacrifice fly to score Stevens but Collins hit a grounder to end the game with the Gators falling 6-3.

Etheridge got the win for the Raiders, pitching a complete game for six hits, three runs, three earned runs, and two walks, striking out two. For Lake View, Carson Rogers pitched 2.2 innings for two hits, one wild pitch, and one out; Josh Price pitched two innings for two outs; and Weston Rogers pitched one and a third innings for seven hits, six runs, five earned runs, one walk, and two outs.
At bat for the Raiders, Etheridge went 3-for-3 with four RBI; Zeigler went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, also reaching on an error and making a sacrifice bunt; Schwarting went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, also reaching on an error and a walk; Chandler went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a stolen base; Beard went 1-for-3 for a double with one run scored; and Kirkland went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt. The Raiders had nine hits and no errors in the win.
At bat for the Gators, Carson Rogers went 1-for-3 for a triple and two RBI; Hunter Stevens went 1-for-2 for a double and one run, also making a sacrifice bunt; De’Ante Bridgett, Luc Newell, and Brent Herlong each went 1-for-3; Justin Elliott went 1-for-3 with one run scored; Nick Collins scored one run on a walk and made a sacrifice bunt; and Weston Rogers drew a walk and got one RBI on a sacrifice fly.
Lake View slips to 20-6 overall and will now face an elimination game on Monday night. The Gators were scheduled to host Timmonsville.
