After earning a 20-0 win over Timmonsville on Monday night, Lake View’s Wild Gators will join five other local teams competing in district title games tonight in the SCHSL baseball and softball playoffs.
Lake View shut down the Whirlwinds in three innings on Monday night with Nick Collins and Peyton Cox combining for the shut out on the mound.
The Wild Gators are set to travel to Bamberg-Ehrhardt to take on the Red Raiders tonight at 5:00 p.m. Lake View will have to win twice to claim the Class A, District V title.
In Class A, District VIII, the Latta Vikings are set to host Branchville at 5:30 p.m. Latta defeated Branchville 7-0 in the second round on Saturday, but Branchville eliminated Military Magnet 11-0 on Monday for a shot at the district title. Latta only needs one win tonight to advance, but a win from Branchville will force a second game.
In Class 2A, District VIII, the Dillon Wildcats will host Academic Magnet at 5:30 p.m. The Wildcats earned a 9-7 come-from-behind win on Saturday in their first meeting, and the Raptors edged ahead of Woodland 5-4 on Monday to stay alive in the playoffs. A win from the Raptors tonight would force a second game for the title.
SOFTBALL
In Class A softball, Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators are set to host Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 5:00 p.m. The Lady Gators earned a 4-1 win over the Red Raiders on Saturday but Bamberg shut out Scott’s Branch 18-0 on Monday night to stay alive in the district playoffs. Lake View only needs one win to claim the District V title.
In District VIII, Latta will host Branchville at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Vikings shut out Branchville 18-0 on Saturday but the Yellow Jackets downed Timmonsville on Monday to advance to the district title game. Branchville would have to win twice to take the title.
In Class 2A, District V, Dillon’s Lady Wildcats will host Barnwell tonight at 5:30 p.m. Dillon shut out the Region 5-A champs 14-0 on Saturday, but Barnwell earned a 5-3 win over Timberland on Monday to stay alive. Dillon only needs one win to claim the title.
