To the Editor:
This is an open letter to the Latta Town Council. Recently I attended a council meeting; I saw firsthand how uncivil and unchristian things have become. I believe our mayor has some good ideas that should be considered. He knows how to balance a checkbook. The mayor made a mistake, but who of us have not, Mr. Taylor? Christians forgive and move ahead and do what is best for our community.
I spoke to Dr. Phil Wallace recently and he shared a few things that Dillon has done to get their economy in much better shape. I’m sure he would spend a little time speaking with our council.
Council, drop the egos and listen to ALL input. Our citizens are educated. We are watching you and do not like what we see. In the 1950s, Clancy Moore was our sole police officer. In the 1960s and ‘70s we had two officers. I believe we could do with two fewer officers and two fewer cars. That may get us back in the black.
These are all things the citizens of Latta are discussing. Council, shape up.
Sincerely,
Houston Manning
