Dillon, Latta, and Lake View teams didn’t allow a single run scored against them in the first rounds of the SCHSL baseball and softball district playoffs on Thursday night.

In Class A softball action, Lake View shut out Scott’s Branch 16-0 in five innings with Ally Spivey picking up the win on the mound in a no-hitter, striking out 12 and giving up just four walks. Logan Spivey and Madison Greene led the Lady Gators at bat, combining for seven hits and six RBI.

Lake View will travel to Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 3 p.m. on Saturday for the second round of the District V playoffs. Bamberg-Ehrhardt defeated Burke 17-0 to advance in the winners’ bracket.

Latta defeated Timmonsville 18-0 in three innings in the District VIII bracket with Casey Prescott and Arica Gandy combining for 10 outs, three walks, and just one hit. Macy Hyatt led at bat, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, and three RBI and Madison Owens went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, and three RBI.

On Saturday, the Lady Vikings will host the winner of the Baptist Hill at Branchville game.

In Class 2A, Dillon’s Lady Wildcats defeated Timberland 3-0 in the District V bracket with Tiffany Dwyer getting the win on the mound, pitching five innings and giving up three hits and one walk and striking out four, and Shaquailla German pitched two innings with no hits and four outs. German also hit a home run; Da’Kerhia Samuel and Brittany Miller each hit a triple; and Johnna Rogers doubled.

The Lady Wildcats will travel to Barnwell on Saturday at 3 p.m. Barnwell defeated Whale Branch 24-0 on Thursday night.

BASEBALL

In Class A baseball action, Lake View got a 17-0 shut out win over Timmonsville in three innings in the District V playoffs, with Weston Rogers getting the win in the no-hitter, striking out two in one inning on the mound. Brent Herlong struck out four with one hit by pitch in two innings and Carson Rogers struck out three in one turn on the mound. At bat, Weston Rogers doubled with two hits and Josh Price went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Lake View will travel to Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Bamberg-Ehrhardt defeated Baptist Hill 17-1 in round one on Thursday.

In the District VIII bracket, Latta earned a 16-0 shut out win over Scott’s Branch in five innings. Jackson Williams got the win in the no-hitter, giving up two walks and striking out eight, while Dalton Lane struck out six in two innings for the Gators. Jackson Williams hit a triple for one RBI; John Kever Love singled for one RBI; and Cledus Williams and Caleb Mishue both had hits in the win as Scott’s Branch walked 18 batters.

The Vikings will host Branchville on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Branchville earned a 19-1 win over Military Magnet in the first round.

In Class 2A, Dillon picked up a 10-0 win over Kingstree with Duncan Callahan, Rae Rae McGirt, and Austin Moody combining for a shut out on the mound.

The Wildcats will host Academic Magnet on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the District VIII playoffs. Academic Magnet earned a 3-2 win over Woodland in the first round.

Saturday’s winners will advance directly to the district championships on Wednesday, May 6, while the losers will host an elimination game on Monday, May 4, against Saturday’s elimination bracket winners.
