Dillon’s Lady Wildcats fell 9-2 to the Aynor Blue Jackets on Tuesday night to set up a tie for first place in Region 8-2A softball.

Aynor got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the second and broke loose for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 9-0 lead. Dillon rallied too late for two runs in the bottom of the seventh as the Lady Blue Jackets claimed the win.

Brooke Elliott was the winning pitcher for the Blue Jackets.

At bat for the Wildcats, Johnna Rogers went 1-for-3 with a double and Shar’Asia Samuel went 1-for-4. Dillon had three hits and two errors in the effort.

For Aynor, Taylor Christian went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI; Shelby Cox went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI; Taylor Charlton went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI; and Jessie Johnson went 1-for-2. Aynor had six hits and three errors in the win.

Dillon slips to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in Region 8-2A, while Aynor improves to 16-6 with a 7-1 record in the region.

The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to host Marion on Wednesday and Waccamaw tonight to help settle the Region winner.

Next week, Dillon will be at home to host Latta and Hartsville on Monday and Tuesday unless a region tie-breaker game is needed. Class 2A district playoffs are set to begin next Thursday, April 30.
