Lake View’s Wild Gators defeated the Carvers Bay Bears 12-2 on Tuesday night in varsity baseball action.

The Bears scored first in the top of the second inning, reaching on a walk and advancing on a wild pitch before scoring on a passed ball. But Lake View picked up nine runs in the bottom of the third, reaching on a hit by pitch, two errors, and six singles.

Carvers Bay picked up their second run in the top of the fourth with Lesane hitting a triple and scoring on a wild pitch. But Lake View pulled ahead 10-2 in the bottom of the inning as Josh Price hit a double, advanced on a single from Justin Elliott, and scored on a grounder from Carson Rogers. The Gators wrapped up the win in the fifth with Luc Newell reaching on a hit by pitch and Hunter Stevens hitting a single for the 12-2 win.

Weston Rogers pitched four innings for the Gators for one hit, two runs, one earned run, three walks, and two wild pitches, striking out nine. Brent Herlong spent one inning on the mound, striking out two. For Carvers Bay, Trey Cribb pitched three innings for nine hits, 10 runs, two earned runs, two walks, and two hit by pitch, striking out one. S. Williams pitched one inning for two hits, two runs, one earned run, one hit by pitch, and one walk.

At bat for the Gators, Hunter Stevens went 2-for-2 with three runs scored; Justin Elliott went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI; Brent Herlong went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored; Josh Price went 1-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and two runs; Weston Rogers went 1-for-2 with one RBI, two stolen bases, and one run scored, also reaching on two walks; Nick Collins went 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run; Carson Rogers went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run, also reaching on a walk; Luc Newell went 1-for-2 with two runs; Connor Anderson picked up one RBI; and De’Ante Bridgett went 1-for-1.

For the Bears, D. Lesane went 1-for-2 for a triple with one run scored, and N. Langston scored one run, reaching on two walks. The Bears had one hit and four errors in the win.

Lake View improved to 18-6 and finished out region play with an 8-2 record for second place in Region 8-A.

The Wild Gators are scheduled to wrap up the regular season tonight at home at 5:30 p.m. against Marion. The Class A District playoffs are set to begin next Thursday, April 30,
