The Dillon Christian School Warriors fell 11-1 to the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles at home on Tuesday night in varsity baseball action.
The Eagles took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first quarter and picked up one run each in the second and third and two in the fourth for a 9-0 lead. The Warriors scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth with Connor Hamilton drawing a walk and Ethan Shackelford hitting into a fielder’s choice. Landry Collins followed with a hit into the gap between left and center for a double to score the runner. But Thomas Evans struck out and Jake Boykin hit a grounder to end the inning with the Warriors trailing 9-1. Pee Dee capped the win with two runs in the top of the fifth.
Jesse Lane earned the win for Pee Dee, pitching five innings for two hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, and three outs. Nick Smith took the loss for the Warriors, pitching three and a third innings for six hits, 11 runs, one earned run, six walks, and one out. Thomas Evans pitched one a third innings.
At bat for the Warriors, Landry Collins went 1-for-2 for a double with one RBI; Douglas Bullock went 1-for-1; Jake Boykin went 1-for-2; Ethan Shackelford reached on a fielder’s choice for one run; and Connor Hamilton drew a walk.
In the field, Jake Boykin made three put outs; Thomas Evans made two put outs and two assists; Connor Hamilton, Ellison Rourke, and Nick Smith each made two put outs; Garrett Collins and Ethan Shackelford each made one put out; and Landry Collins made four assists.
At bat for the Eagles, Reagan Fowler went 3-for-3 with two RBI; Timmy Felder went 1-for-2 with one RBI; Hayden Panos went 2-for-2 with two RBI; and Jesse Lane went 1-for-2.
The Warriors are now 3-7-3 overall and 0-5 in SCISA Region 3-2A.
Dillon Christian was scheduled to travel to Marlboro Academy in Bennettsville on Wednesday night to wrap up the regular season. The SCISA baseball playoffs are set to begin on Monday, April 27.
