The Dillon Christian Warriors tied 7-7 with The King’s Academy and fell 17-1 to Florence Christian this week in baseball action.

On Monday night, the Warriors traveled to The King’s Academy in Florence and tied 7-7 with the Lions in eight innings.

The Warriors took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added one run each in the third and fourth for a 5-0 lead. But the Lions scored four runners in the bottom of the fourth and picked up two more in the sixth to reclaim the lead at 6-5. The Warriors added two runs in the top of the seventh to lead 7-6, but King’s Academy picked up one more runner in the bottom of the inning to knot the game. Neither team could score in the eighth inning, and the game was called at the start of the ninth due to darkness.

Jake Boykin and Landry Collins each pitched four innings for the Warriors. Boykin faced 24 batters for one hit, five runs, one earned run, two doubles, and four walks with two hit by pitch. Collins gave up one hit, a double, and struck out eight of 17 batters he faced with one hit by pitch.

Thomas Evans led the Warriors at bat, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored. Collins was 1-for-5 with a double, one RBI, and one run scored; Connor Hamilton went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs scored; Ellison Rourke was 1-for-3; Boykin was 1-for-4 with one RBI, two stolen bases, and one run scored; and Jesse Miller scored one run for the Warriors.

In the field, Collins made six assists with two put outs; Garrett Collins made five put outs; Ross Carlyle made two assists with one error; Evans made two assists and two put outs; Hamilton Hodges made one assist; Connor Hamilton made two put outs; and Boykin made four put outs with two errors.

On Tuesday night, the Warriors hosted the Florence Christian Eagles for their first conference game of the season, falling 17-1 in five innings.

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and picked up three more runs in the second and five in the third before sealing the win with six runs in the top of the fifth. The Warriors scored their only run in the bottom of the first inning.

Nick Smith took the loss on the mound, pitching two innings for six hits, six runs, six earned runs, six walks, and one out. William Long earned the win for the Eagles, pitching three innings for three hits, one run, one earned run, and three outs.

At bat for the Warriors, Connor Hamilton was 1-for-3 and Jake Boykin and Thomas Evans were each 1-for-2. The Warriors had five hits and five errors in the effort.

For the Eagles, Chris Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI; Adam hill was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI; William Long was 2-for-3 with one RBI; Drew Welch was 2-for-2 with one RBI; and Hunter Eason was 2-for-5 with two RBI.

The Warriors are now 3-2-2 overall and 0-1 in SCISA Region 2-2A.

Dillon Christian is scheduled to host Marlboro Academy at 5:00 p.m. this Friday, March 27.
