The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors were beaten 12-3 in seven innings by the Lady Eagles of Florence Christian School on Tuesday at Warrior Field.
Coach D. Conn’s B-team Warriors played the Eagles earlier and were down five runs but battled back for a fantastic finish and a 13-8 win. The Eagle Varsity seemed determined not to let this happen to them and kept the Warriors off balance the entire game. Three Eagle runs were earned and nine were allowed on fielding or throwing errors.
The first inning was scoreless but the Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the second inning. The Eagles went ahead 5-0 in the third and added one run in the top of the fourth for a 6-0 lead. The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the fourth to close the Eagle lead to 6-2.
The Eagles went ahead 7-2 in the fifth inning, adding three runs in the sixth to up their lead to 10-2. The Eagles finished their scoring with two more runs in the top of the seventh for a 12-2 lead. The Warriors had a short rally, gaining one run in the bottom of the seventh, but ended the inning with the Eagles turning a double play.
On the mound for the Warriors, Jamie Carpenter posted seven strikeouts with four batters to base on walks and gave up eight hits and 12 runs scored for the loss. For the Eagles, Tori Alexander had one strikeout, one walked batter, and one batter to base on a hit by a pitch with two hits and no runs scored for the win in three innings on the mound. Brooke Brown struck out one batter, had no walks, and gave up two hits and three runs scored in three innings on the mound and Kacey Medlin added one strikeout with no hits or runs scored in one inning on the mound.
At bat for the Eagles, Lindsay Miller was 2-for-5 with one RBI; Madison Stewart was 2-for-4; Madison Warner was 1-for-4; Kacey Medlin was 1-for-5, getting to base on four errors with four RBI; Madison Stanley was 1-for-4 with a triple, getting to base on two errors and two walks with two RBI and a stolen base; Brooke Brown was 1-for-5; Mary Caroline Waldrop got to base on two errors and two walks with a stolen base; Carlie Rogers got a fielder’s choice RBI; and Tori Alexander got to base on an error.
At bat for the Warriors, Madison King was 3-for-4 with one RBI; Sara Bass was 1-for-2; Hannah Walters got to base on an error with one RBI; Leah Stephens, Myra Bracey, and Ansley Hamer each had a fielder’s choice hit; Jamie Carpenter got to base on two walks with a stolen base and scored the Warriors’ third run; and Emilie Martin got to base on an error and a hit by a pitch.
