Reverend Greg Hyler of Mount Calvary Baptist Church recently returned from a 10-day mission trip to Malawi, Africa. He was joined by 5 other missionaries. The group stayed in the capital city of Lilongwe in a missionary housing complex owned by the Southern Baptist Convention.

There were several different ministry opportunities for the team.
There were 2 separate pastor conferences in 2 different regions. In total, around 200 pastors came to take part in worship and pastoral training. The training was done by the missionary team.
Each member of the team was able to speak in a local church on Sunday morning. A translator was used for each speaker.
This allowed the missionaries to take part in the worship experience of the indigenous church, as well as make a spiritual contribution to the people.

During the day, the team would work to evangelize if they were not at a pastor’s conference. One outreach opportunity was in a village going from house to house sharing about Jesus.
Several times, members went to schools and shared the gospel in class rooms.
At night, the team would journey out to remote villages. It was possible to be in up to three villages per night. The “Jesus” video would be shown in an outdoor setting. At the end of the video, a member of the team would preach a message through a translator.
An invitation would be given for people to turn by faith and trust in Jesus’ perfect life, his death on the cross and his resurrection for their salvation.

The preacher would lead the villagers in a prayer to receive God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus.
This ministry worked in partnership with local pastors and churches.
The end goal of each activity was to help start new churches or to grow existing churches.
Local pastors will follow up with new believers and help them to grow into mature Christians.

Perhaps someone reading this article is not ready to meet God, but would like to trust in Jesus to save him/her from the penalty of sin.
This prayer is for you, “God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus is your Son, he died on the cross for me, and he is alive today. I want to turn and follow Jesus. I ask Jesus to save me right now. Jesus, come into my heart, give me the gift of the Holy Spirit, and help me live for you. Thank you for loving me, and for dying for me. Amen.”
If you have prayed this, please contact Pastor Greg at 774-7871 and he will help you grow in your new life of faith.
