The Lake View Wild Gators hosted a preseason baseball tournament on Saturday, March 7, earning wins over Dillon, Pee Dee, and Loris.

Lake View kicked off the baseball action against the Wildcats, defeating Dillon 6-1 in five innings.

The Gators took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and held off the Wildcats through the next two before breaking loose for five runs in the bottom of the third. The Wildcats scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning.

Josh Price earned the win on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing just one hit and one run, striking out five.

Blake Deese pitched 2.2 innings for Dillon for five hits, six runs, and six walks, and three outs. Joseph Scott also pitched 1.1 innings for the Wildcats.

At bat, Brent Herlong was 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored to lead Lake View at bat. Connor Anderson was 1-for-2 with one RIB and one run scored; Josh Price was 1-for-1 with one RBI and two runs scored; Carson Rogers was 1-for-3; Justin Elliott was 1-for-3 with one run scored; and Nick Collins scored one run, reaching on two walks.

For the Wildcats, Patrick Herring was 1-for-2, hitting a solo homer. Dillon had three errors in the effort.

In their second game, Lake View shut out Pee Dee 10-0 in three innings, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, three in the second, and five in the third.

Weston Rogers earned the win on the mound, pitching all three innings for two walks and five outs. Pee Dee gave up two hits, seven walks, and 10 runs with two outs.

At bat, Luc Newell and Duane Nichols each had one hit for Lake View. Weston Rogers had three RBI; Elliot picked up one RBI; and Herlong had one RBI. Carson Rogers scored three runs, and Nichols and Hunter Stevens each scored twice, with Elliott, Collins, and Rogers each scoring one.

In the last game of the day, Lake View shut out the Loris Lions 10-0 in three innings. The Gators took a 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added two runs in the second and one in the third to seal the win.

Carson Rogers pitched all three innings for the Gators, giving up three hits but striking out five batters.

Loris’s Kolin Causey took the loss on the mound, pitching two innings for four hits, nine runs, two earned runs, four walks, and one out. Austin Causey pitched one inning for the Lions with one hit, one earned run, one walk, and two outs.

At bat, Carson Rogers went 2-for-2 with one RBI and two runs scored to lead the Gators. Elliot went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run; Newell went 1-for-2 with one run; and De’Ante Bridgett went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Stevens and Herlong each scored one run on a walk, Anderson scored twice on walks, and Nichols added one run in the win.

Loris’s Colby Todd went 1-for-1 to lead the Lions at bat. Clay Faircloth and Zach Hudson each went 1-for-2. Loris had three hits and three errors in the effort.

The Wild Gators are 5-1 in the preseason.
