The Weston Chapel AME Church Luvella Stephens Women’s Missionary Society held a fashion show on Saturday with the theme, “Missionaries On The Move In Fashion, Unity and Love.”
The show began with the singing of “What A Fellowship, What A Joy Divine,” followed by a prayer by Kathleen Simmons.
Barbara J. Sellers gave a scripture reading from the book of John followed by an inspirational reading by Martha H. Bethea.
Nashua Brown, a young man from St. John Baptist Church, delivered the Martin Luther King, Jr. “I Have A Dream” speech.
Christa D. Edwards, WMS President, gave the welcome.
Performances were given by singer Wendy Moore of Mill Branch Church, praise dancers The Three SW’s of Weston Chapel, The T.B. Thomas Male Chorus from St. Phillips United Methodist Church, and Weston Chapel AMEC Male Chorus.
The fashion show was held after some of the musical performances.
Various categories of clothing were modeled including Sports Attire, Casual Attire, Dressy Attire, and African Attire.
The show was capped off with a grand finale dress worn by Paris Davis and presented by James Washington III.
All of the models came back out for another presentation and to receive congratulations.
Theere were closing comments from Evette Bethea, program chairperson, Christa Edwards, and Rev. Leonard Simmons.
