After a slow start in the first half, the Wildcats rallied for a 57-45 win over the Marion Swamp Foxes on Friday night in boys varsity basketball action.
Marion took a 12-7 lead in the first quarter, but Dillon outscored the Swamp Foxes 15-10 in the second to knot the game at 22 points heading into the halftime. The Wildcats used a 15-10 third quarter to take the lead, and capped the win in the fourth, outpacing Marion 20-13.
Eri’Reon Hayes and JaQuan Knowlin each earned 10 points in the win for Dillon, and Gerome McLeod added eight points for the Wildcats. Joe manning scored 7; Lawrence Crouch, 6; RaKeem Fletcher, 5; Raheem McClam, 5; Avery McCall, 3; and Que Bethea, 2.
Marion was led by Kelik Faulk with 12 points, and Jaquan Felton with seven. Jordan Bell and Denzel Brown each scored six; Marcus Bryant and Deshaun Avant each added five; and Kevin Grant scored four for the Swamp Foxes.
Dillon improved to 11-9 overall and 5-3 in Region 8-2A while the Swamp Foxes slipped to 11-11 and 2-6 in the region.
The Wildcats are in third place heading into the final week of conference action. Dillon was scheduled to host Loris on Monday night and will host Waccamaw on Wednesday, with game times set for 6:00 p.m.
