Local and regional rivals Lake View and Latta clashed again on Tuesday night in varsity basketball action in Latta.
Latta’s Lady Vikings earned a 63-33 win over Lake View’s Lady Gators in girls action with the Vikings taking a 15-6 lead in the first and outscoring the Gators 21-8 in the second for a firm 36-14 lead at the half. The Vikings outpaced the Gators 27-19 in the second half to seal the win.
Latta was led by TaKeria Legette with 31 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and six steals, and Mallory Townsend earned 11 points with nine rebounds in the win. Riana Green added nine points; Madelia Johnson, 5; Maya Wright, 5; Iyonna McKenzie, 2; and TyKeria Manning, 2.
Olivia McDaniel earned 12 points to lead the Lady Gators in the effort, and Na’Kedra Page added 11 points for Lake View. Jasmine Ford scored 6; Diayah Williams, 2; and Toni Nash, 2.
Latta improved to 12-3 overall and 7-0 in Region 8-A, while Lake View slips to 7-7 overall and 1-5 in the region.
In boys action, Latta defeated Lake View 75-59 on Tuesday night.
Latta was led by Diez Mungro with a game-high 19 points, and Kartilus McFadden earned 14 points for the VIkings in the win.
Latta improves to 11-4 overall and 7-0 in Region 8-A, while Lake View remains winless in the region.
The Vikings will be at home this Friday to host Green Sea Floyds at 6:00 p.m. and will be on the road to wrap up the regular season against Carvers Bay on Tuesday and Hemingway on Thursday.
The Wild Gators will be at home on Friday night to host Creek Bridge at 6:00 p.m. Lake View will also host Green Sea Floyds on Tuesday night, and will wrap up the regular season on the road on Thursday night at Carvers Bay.
