Dillon’s Lady Wildcats picked up a 65-15 win over the Aynor Blue Jackets on Friday night girls varsity basketball action.

Dillon was in firm control of the game through the first quarter, getting off to a 20-2 lead. Aynor fought back in the second, adding 11 points to Dillon’s 12, but the Blue Jackets still trailed 32-13 at the half. The Lady Cats shut out Aynor completely in the third, 21-0, and capped the win with a 14-2 fourth quarter.

Da’Kerhia Samuel led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, and Adriana McCollum added 10 points for the Wildcats in the win. Khamele Manning scored 9; Tejah Breeden, 8; Jelissa Fentzlaff, 7; Shar’Asia Samuel, 2; Cali McRae, 2; and Rasheena Colvin, 1.

Aynor was led by Madison Barton with 11 points. Trumbell added 4.

The Wildcats improved to 17-2 overall and remain undefeated in Region 8-2A with a 6-0 record.

Last week, the Lady Cats remained in first place in the Class 2A girls basketball polls, with Mullins in second. Dillon will be away at Mullins tonight to face the Lady Auctioneers, who hold a 5-1 record in the region. Dillon defeated Mullins 59-52 in their first meeting in January.

The Wildcats will be at home for the rest of the regular season, beginning with Marion on Friday. Next week Dillon will host Loris on Monday and Waccamaw on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season. Game times are set for 6:00 p.m. so make plans to attend to support our local team!
