Wildcats Top Lions 91-72

The Dillon Wildcats earned a 91-72 win over the Loris Lions on Friday, January 23, in Loris.

The Lions took a 23-20 lead in the first quarter, but the Wildcats outpaced Loris 22-19 in the second to tie things up 42-42 at the half. Dillon used a 27-14 third quarter to jump ahead 69-56, and sealed the win in the fourth, outscoring Loris 22-16.

JaQuan Knowlin led the Wildcats with a game-high 20 points and Lawrence Crouch and Eri’Reon Hayes each earned 13 points in the win. Que Bethea added 11 points; Gerome McLeod, 8; Joe Manning, 7; Rakeem Fletcher, 7; Avery McCall, 6; Omar McCollum, 4; and A. McCollum, 2.

Loris was led by Zeke Beckham with a team-high 19 points and Shawn Simmons with 14. Hedien Goodman added 9; Trevon Morgan, 8; Corenza Johnson, 8; Junior Long, 7; Cameron Ashberry, 4; and Travis Walters, 3.

Dillon improved to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in Region 8-2A, while Loris slipped to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the Region.

Mullins leads the region with an undefeated 4-0 record, with Waccamaw and Dillon each holding a 3-1 record. Loris and Marion are both at 1-3, and Aynor is 0-4 in the region.

The Wildcats will be at Waccamaw tonight and will be back at home this Friday to host Aynor at 6:00 p.m.
