Dillon’s Lady Wildcats traveled to Marion on Tuesday night for an 84-44 win over the Lady Swamp Foxes in girls varsity basketball.
The Wildcats, now the top-ranked team in the state in Class 2A, took a 23-11 lead in the first quarter against Marion on Tuesday. The Swamp Foxes pushed for a 15-12 second quarter but still trailed 35-26 at the half. But Dillon dominated the rest of the game, outscoring Marion 22-9 and 27-9 in the remaining quarters for the win.
Khamele Manning lead the Wildcats with a game-high 20 points and made four steals. Tejah Breeden added 16 points and picked up 15 rebounds, and Kendra McLeod earned 10 points for Dillon. Da’Kerhia Samuel added 9; Adriana McCollum, 8; Jelissa Fentzlaff, 7; Shar’Asia Samuel, 6; Cali McRae, 4; and Yolanda Campbell, 2.
Marion was led by Ariaher Morrisey with a team-high 17 points and Kyra Daniels with 12. Wiley earned 7; Godbold, 2; Johnson, 2; Vereen, 1; and Mason, 1.
Dillon improved to 14-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 8-2A.
The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to be on the road again this Friday to face the Loris Lions, and will be away at Waccamaw on Tuesday. Next Friday, the Wildcats will be back home to host Aynor. Game times are set for 6:00 p.m.
