Dillon’s Lady Wildcats claimed the top spot in Class 2A in the latest South Carolina Basketball Coaches poll.
The Wildcats were previously ranked second behind Mullins, but after a 59-52 win over the Lady Auctioneers on Saturday, Dillon took over first place in Class 2A girls basketball.
Mullins slipped to second place in the poll, followed by Bishop England, Newberry, and Pendleton in the top five. Edisto, Andrew, Jackson, Abbeville, Columbia, and Indian Land rounded out the top 10.
In Class A, Latta held on to third place while Carvers Bay remained in second, Hemingway took fifth, and Green Sea Floyds was ranked ninth. All four teams compete in Region 8-A, and the Lady Vikings claimed a 56-49 win over Hemingway on Tuesday. Latta will host Carvers Bay next Tuesday, January 27.
Christ Church remained in first place in Class A, and St. Joseph’s was ranked fourth. Ridge Spring Monetta, Allendale Fairfax, and Timmonsville were next, and Southside Christian was ranked tenth.
In girls 3A, Lancaster was first in the state, and in Class 4A, West Florence took the top spot.
In the boys basketball polls, Latta was ranked seventh in the state in Class A and Hannah Pamplico was ranked eighth. Burke took the top spot, with Calhoun county, Christ Church, Fox Creek, and Great Falls taking the top five spots. Southside Christian was sixth, with Branchville in ninth and St. Joseph’s ranked tenth.
In Class 2A, Ridgeland-Hardeeville was ranked first, followed by Battery Creek, Cheraw, Keenan, Chesnee, Timberland, Edisto, Strom Thurmond, Lake Marion, and Garrett Tech.
In 3A and 4A, AC Flora and Hillcrest took the top spots.
