Dillon – Horace Mitchell Lindsay, 73, went to be with his Lord Thursday, December 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Westminister, SC at a later date.
Mitch as he was known to family, Horace to older family members, was born February 2, 1941 in Raynham, NC the son of the late William Arthur and Thelma Alberta Rogers Lindsay. He lived most of his life in Dillon, SC but worked Nuclear jobs for twenty-seven years in South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, his last job being in Oconee, SC where he met his wife, Debbie Hamm, in 1996. He was of the Baptist faith.
Horace is survived by his wife Debbie H. Lindsay of the home; son, Jerry Lindsay (Shelby) of Jasper, GA; step-children, Dell Reed (Michelle) of Clayton, Ga and Alan Reed (Michelle) of Commerce, GA; fourteen grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Frease of Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Wade Lindsay of Franklin, NC, Lloyd Lindsay and David Lindsay both of Dillon, SC; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Diane Certains and Jonathan Ivester who helped care for him; and his faithful dog, Murphy.
Mr. Lindsay was predeceased by sisters, Louise McLean and Thelma DeParolis, brothers, LeGrand “Bud” and Raymond; and nephews; Wade, Jr., Tommy Lindsay, Charles Lindsey and Lindsay Collins.
