Lake View High School’s Savannah Evans and Adam Page were recently named School Winners in Wendy’s High School Heisman program.
The program is open to seniors throughout the country who possess a GPA of 3.0 or better, compete in one of 27 eligible school-sponsored sports, and serve as a leader in their school and community and a role model for their underclassmen.
Jim Carr and Ansley Hamer were the school winners for Dillon Christian School and advanced to the State Finalist round, and Austin Miller was the school winner for Latta High School.
The state winners for South Carolina were Stokes Brownlee of Dorchester Academy in St. George, SC, and Lisa Pieterse of Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Every senior who applies receives an official certificate for participating. School winners are chosen from every participating school and receive a certificate and a Heisman Patch. From there, 1,020 State Finalists are chosen, 10 males and 10 females from each state and the District of Columbia, each receiving a bronze medal, Heisman patch, and a gift card.
The field is then narrowed to 102 State Winners who receive silver medals, and finally to 12 National Finalists, who are invited to attend the awards banquet and receive a gold medal. The 10 finalists who are not chosen as the winners will receive a $2,000 award donated to their high school, while the 2 National Award Winners will receive the High School Heisman Trophy, recognition during ESPN’s national telecast of the Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation, and 410,000 donated to their high school in their name.
