The City of Dillon’s ISO rating has decreased from a five to a four in city limits, according to a report made at the October meeting of the Dillon City Council.
“This rating is used by insurance companies to give quotes on insurance premiums and is based on fire, water, and 9-1-1 services,” according to the Dillon City Council’s October meeting minutes.
Dillon Fire Chief Keith Bailey said that everyone in the city limits is located within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant, which is why the rate was lowered, the minutes state.
Councilman John Braddy said that most people will see a small decrease in their insurance premiums, the minutes said.
The new rating will become effective January 1, 2015.
