Lake View’s Ashley Rogers finished eighth overall in the Class A-AA State Championship golf tournament at Black Bear Golf Course on Tuesday, October 21.
Rogers earned a total of 168 at the course as she finished out the season of girls varsity golf as an individual competitor. She was named All State. Rogers shot an 85 and an 83 in her two days on the 5,380-yard course.
Academic Magnet’s Annika Bovender won the individual state title, shooting a 71 on both days for a score of 142.
Kathleen Sumner of Bishop England finished second with a 149, followed by Carly Lyvers of St. Joseph’s with a 157; Samantha Melton, McBee ,160; Emma Wofford, Bishop England, 164; Peyton Gillespie, Christ Church, 165; Amber Winburn, McBee, 165; Ashley Rogers, Lake View, 168; Sarah Dutton, McBee, 172; Mattie Dew, St. Joseph’s, 176; and Kelly Kaz, Waccamaw ,176.
McBee captured their first Class A-AA golf championship in the team tournament with a total of 687. McBee was led by Samantha Melton with a total of 160, followed by Amber Winburn, 165; Sarah Dutton, 172; and Chloe Tiller, 190.
Bishop England placed second with a team total of 731, and Powdersville was third with a 767. The rest of the field included Pendleton, 782; Aynor 807; Chesterfield, 822; St. Joseph’s, 858; Waccamaw, 859; Southside Christian, 868; Ware Shoals, 872; Tamassee-Salem, 907; Keenan, 916; and Christ Church, 980.
