The Latta Vikings earned their first region win of the season against Creek Bridge on Friday night, defeating the Warriors 29-6 in varsity football action.

After a scoreless opening quarter, Creek Bridge quarterback Myles Branham scored on a 5-yard pass to Dajuan Surrency to take a 6-0 lead in the second.

But Latta’s Tyquan Porter took the kickoff and ran for 57 yards on the return to tie things 6-6. With about a minute left in the half, the Vikings sacked Branham and scored a safety to take an 8-6 lead.

Latta’s Jackson Williams scored two touchdowns in the second half to improve the Viking lead, and Kartilus McFadden sealed the win with a 25-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

It was the first region for the Vikings and only their second win on the season as they improved to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in Region 8-A. The Warriors fell to 1-7 on the season.

Latta will be on the road again this Friday to face Carvers Bay at 7:30 p.m. The Bears are 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the region heading into the game.
