Wyman-Gordon, known to many as Project WILMA, is coming to Dillon County.
The company will make a $115 million investment in the county and will bring 400 jobs, which are expected to pay $18-$20 an hour. The jobs are expected to be created over a period of five years.
The company will locate in the spec building at 152 Caldwell Drive, off Highway 34 West, Dillon, in the Northeastern Commerce Industrial Park. “The proximity to Wyman-Gordon’s customer base and South Carolina’s growing aerospace industry were key factors in the selection process, according to the company,” according to a press release from the S.C. Department of Commerce.
“We were attracted to the overall business environment in South Carolina. Our new facility will be located in the center of a rapidly growing aerospace sector with easy access to highways, ports, and, most importantly, many of our customers,” said Greg Paolini, VP and general manager at Wyman-Gordon, a Precision Castparts Corp. company.“Construction of the new plant will begin by year’s end with production anticipated in late 2015. The plant is expected to serve customers in the aerospace and power generation end markets in the United States, Europe and Asia. Wyman-Gordon will coordinate activities with readySC for the hiring and training of the Dillon workforce,” the press release states.
“Wyman-Gordon is a company of Precision Castparts Corp., a Fortune 500 company with over 160 manufacturing locations and over 29,000 employees. Originally founded in 1883, Wyman-Gordon was acquired by Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC) in 1999, and operates facilities in five different countries, including the Czech Republic, England, Mexico, Scotland and the United States.”

—Dillon County will give the spec building and the 15 acres where the spec building is located to the company. The value of this is $2.5 million for the building and the land.
—Dillon County will also give the company an additional 45 acres beside the building. This is being purchased by the county at a cost of $20,000 per acre from the landowner, The Gaddy-Rogers Family.
—The county will give Wyman-Gordon a $200,000 cash grant.
—Marlboro Development Team will contribute $200,000 in RDA money.
—$750,000 will come from the Coordinating Council for Economic Development for company infrastructure.
